Hi ladies. For our second post, please first read this piece. http://www.eomega.org/article/the-biggest-challenges-facing-girls-and-young-women-today-4-women-leaders-respond
In it four women leaders discuss what challenges they believe young women will face in the future. Which one stands out to you and why and what do you think are the greatest challenges facing you?
Remember the guidelines for writing a post. Please refer to the first blog for a reminder on what makes a good blog post.
The challenge that stands out to me the most is the fact that young girls can have experiences online that make them fear going to school the next day. A great challenge facing me is maintaining a good online reputation in order to prevent myself from getting into situations such as the young women described in this article.
ReplyDeleteOne challenge that stands out to me the most is that girls are too focused on social media, which prevents them from making a difference. It stands out to me because people can't find confidence in themselves to become a leader in the real world, if they make social media a priority.
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest challenges facing me is being able to have the courage to make a difference in the world instead of hiding behind a computer screen.
Excellent Gabrielle.
DeleteThe challenge that stands out to me the most from the article is that girls are spending too much time on social media and comparing themselves to what they see on the media. Many girls spend hours on social media sites. They compare themselves to the models or the actresses that they see on these social media sites. This challenge stands out to me because I don't think that girls should compare themselves to what they see online. This could tear down some girls' confidence. Everyone is different and beautiful in their own way.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest challenge facing me is limiting the time I spend on social media. With homework and after school activities, I try not to spend too much time on social media so that I can get my work done. Sometimes I stay on social media sites for too long and then I don't have enough time to get my homework done before I go to swimming or dance class.
The challenge that stands out the most to me in the article is that girls and women are left out of leadership roles because many people see men as the more dominant gender when there are times where a women would be a better leader.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest challenge that is facing me is pushing myself out of my comfort zone and becoming more of a leader because I am afraid of what people will think of me.
The challenge that stands out to me in the article the most is that most women feel that men are superior because society makes them believe that they are.
ReplyDeleteMy greatest challenge is not speaking up about the things I believe un and not defending myself when people insult my beliefs.
The challenge that stood out the most is the one author Rachel Simmons described. She stated that one in four 12-13 - year - old girls had online experiences that traumatized them and lowered their self esteem. This caused them to question healthy friendships and make them nervous about going to school.
ReplyDeleteFor me, my greatest challenge is putting all my efforts in social media when in reality, nobody cares about it.
The challenge in the article that stands out to me is the fact that some women don't do what they want to do because they are expected to do something else. Women are strong and shouldn't be limited to what they can do.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest challenge facing me is not being confident in myself and what i can do.
The challenge that stood out to me the most is girls who go places thinking their popularity or identity is relied on social media. If you had a bad experience on the internet you shouldn't worry about it. For example, if a friend posted an embarrassing picture of you, you shouldn't let this ruin your identity of who you are as a person. It is just the internet. The greatest challenges facing me personally would probably be my identity on the computer also. Many people today worry about if their online photos are worthy enough or get enough likes and comments.
ReplyDeleteThe challenge that stood out the most in the article is what Sara Nowlin talked about. She stated that if girls were more focused on making a difference, then they will not focus on the media. They can be themselves if they find their own inner strength.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest challenge for me is always trying to be myself, especially in front of new people.
What stood out to me was the curse of the girl, this stood out because a lot of people make being a girl a bad thing. when you say like a girl it's supposed to be an insult, when saying like a man its a compliment.
ReplyDeleteBiggest challenge is working for equal pay
All of these women had different views on what challenges young girls face in today's society. The one that stood out to me the most was Sara Nowlin's. She explains how girls our age and older should spend less time focusing on social media and more on making a difference. In my own opinon I believe she is absolutely right because due to electronics and social media girls have become more obsessed with what they look like instead of focusing on what is on the inside.
ReplyDeleteThe one that stood out to me the most is Sara Nowlin. This is because I have met girls who only focus on what's going on in their favorite celebrity's life or their status in social media rather than doing the best they can in school and they only do the minimum. My greatest challenge is to stay fosused while doing my homework.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work ladies. There is a lot of pressure on you to fit into a mold. You are all unique and special in many ways. Celebrate that and heed the advice that these women have for you.
